The Canon PIXMA TR4720 is an all-in-one printer that supports printing, scanning, and copying. However, users may sometimes experience problems during installation, Wi-Fi connection, driver setup, or printing. If you are having trouble with your Canon TR4720 Setup, a few simple troubleshooting steps can help you identify and resolve common issues.

1. Check the Printer's Initial Setup

Incorrect initial installation can prevent the printer from working properly. Before connecting your printer to a computer or wireless network, make sure the setup process is complete.

Follow these steps:

  1. Remove all protective packaging from the printer.

  2. Connect the power cable and turn on the printer.

  3. Install the ink cartridges according to the on-screen instructions.

  4. Load compatible paper into the paper tray.

  5. Confirm that the printer displays no installation-related errors.

Once these steps are complete, proceed with the wireless or USB connection.

2. Fix Canon TR4720 Wi-Fi Connection Problems

Wi-Fi connection issues are common during Canon TR4720 Setup. The printer may fail to connect if the network credentials are incorrect or the wireless signal is weak.

To troubleshoot the problem:

  • Confirm that your router is working correctly.

  • Check that you have entered the correct Wi-Fi password.

  • Place the printer closer to the router during setup.

  • Follow the printer's wireless setup instructions to select your network.

  • Restart the printer and router if the connection fails.

The printer supports 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi, so check your router's network settings if the printer cannot detect your wireless network.

3. Download and Install the Correct Printer Driver

Missing or outdated drivers may prevent your computer from recognizing the Canon TR4720.

To install the correct driver:

  1. Visit the official Canon support website.

  2. Search for the PIXMA TR4720 model.

  3. Select your computer's operating system.

  4. Download the recommended driver or setup package.

  5. Open the downloaded file and follow the installation instructions.

Avoid downloading drivers from unfamiliar websites. If the printer was previously installed, removing an outdated printer entry before reinstalling it may help.

4. Fix Canon TR4720 Printer Not Connecting to a Computer

If your computer cannot detect the printer, check the connection method.

For a USB connection, ensure that the cable is securely connected and try another USB port if necessary. For wireless printing, confirm that the printer and computer are connected to the same local network.

You can also restart both devices and add the printer again through your computer's printer settings.

5. Resolve Canon TR4720 Offline Problems

Sometimes, the printer appears offline even when it is powered on. This may happen because of a network interruption, a paused print queue, or an incorrect printer selection.

Check the following:

  • Make sure the printer is switched on.

  • Verify its Wi-Fi or USB connection.

  • Select the Canon TR4720 as your active printer.

  • Clear stuck print jobs from the queue.

  • Disable the offline setting if it is enabled in your operating system.

After completing these checks, send a test print to confirm that the printer is working.
